We have both Scandinavian and Spanish teachers, all english-speaking and experienced.

Joan Smidt, Teacher and translator
I was born and raised in Aalborg, the fourth largest city in Denmark. During my high school years, I became very interested in the Spanish language and the Spanish speaking cultures – so much that I chose to turn it into my career by studying Spanish at the university. In 2010, I got my Master’s degree in Spanish – Language and International Business Communication from Aalborg University. During my university years, I studied a semester abroad in Costa Rica and worked as an intern at Comunica in Spain. After having finished my studies, I was lucky enough to be able to come back to Comunica and work full time. It has always been a dream of mine to live and work abroad. My work at Comunica has to do with teaching, translation, marketing and project managing. When I am not at work, I like to do zumba, travel and interact with people from different countries and cultures.

Karina Bjørndahl Frost, translator
I was born and raised in Thy in Denmark but decided to try my hand at working abroad following upper secondary school. I went to Spain, where I lived in Barcelona, and quickly realised that I was crazy about the country and its language and culture. When I returned to Denmark, I moved to Aarhus to study and survived the six years it took me to obtain an MSc in Spanish translation and interpreting from Aarhus School of Business. I have since lived or stayed in Spain several times and each experience has simply served to confirm my interest in the country and its people.

Eva Soto, Teacher
Born and raised in the Basque Country. After finishing my studies in pedagogy and language at the University of San Sebastian, I went to London, where I lived for seven years. In England I took courses in how to teach foreigners in Spanish and worked at different places, among others, at the Institute of Cervantes in London. My primary qualifications as a teacher are my experience and flexibility, my patience and the ability to motivate my students. It gives me great satisfaction to follow their progress, because this is what makes it easier for them to get along in Spain. Besides language, I teach Spanish culture and Spanish traditions, which also play an important role in facilitating integration.

Britt Bosmans, Project Manager
Born and raised in Norway (just north of Oslo) of Norwegian mother and Dutch father. I lived and worked in the UK for approx. 20 years (mainly Kent and Berkshire), before moving to the South of Spain. I am educated within Finance and Business. I have got two grown-up children and I live with a man from Peru. I am also blessed with two adorable grandchildren.
I work as a Project Manager for Comunica.dk, something I have done on and off for two years. I do like my work very much and I do especially enjoy the communication with the linguists and the customers. I also take care of some economical tasks in the office every day and I enjoy the variation of these different tasks. By the way, I love to travel and therefore have seen quite a lot of the world, most of Europe, the whole of South America, some of India and parts of Africa and of course, the US, but not enough as I would very much like to go over there again and see more!

Alexandra Villeminey, translator
I was born in Frankfurt on 3 June, 1984, the daughter of a German father and a French mother. I moved to Spain at the age of 19, initially to learn the language; and I later decided to study translation and interpreting at Malaga University. My studies involved study trips to Canada and France. I obtained a Master’s degree in 2009 and completed a six-month internship in southern Germany, where I worked for a translation agency. I now live in Malaga and have been employed as a translator for COMUNICA since March, 2010.

Henrik Åkman, translator and project coordinator
I was born and raised in Ludvika, in the southern part of Dalarna in Sweden. I have always been interested in languages and decided to learn Spanish, German and English in upper secondary school. When I later wanted to further my studies, I decided to study Spanish, Swedish and other courses in linguistics, which resulted in a Master’s degree from Uppsala University. I have previously lived in Spain and before I moved to Costa del Sol permanently in September 2010, I lived in Germany for a year and a half. I have worked as a translator and project coordinator for COMUNICA since 2010.
